About
Sam Round was born in Northampton on October 17th 1995. Growing up he was always musical, first learning to play the drums at age 7, and then also taking up the guitar at age 9.
Throughout his youth, Sam continued study music and taking instrument lessons before deciding to pursue music as a career in his late teens.
In August 2014 he moved to Florida where he enrolled at the University of South Florida as a Jazz Studies Major where he would study drums under LA session drummer Ric Craig. He would also study with the renowned Jazz Faculty, including Jack Wilkins and Chuck Owen. He would also get multiple chances to work with guest professional artists such as Danny Gottlieb, Frank Green, John Beasley, John Clayton and many others.
Sam got the chance would to perform at the Edinburgh Jazz festival as well as the Birmingham and Solihull Jazz Festival as part of a 2017 UK Tour with the University ensembles. Sam graduated in May 2018 with his Bachelor of Music degree and graduated again in May 2020 with his Masters of Music degree.
While back in the UK, Sam has has performed across the UK with Northamptonshire based groups Jazz Colossus and Extremely Dan as well as at various local venues around Northampton.
